1968. Flower Children.
Traditions fall and rules are tossed out.
Iolanthe, a fairy, marries a mortal. Her son, Strephon, is half fairy, half mortal.
Strephon loves Phyllis. Phyllis loves Strephon. The entire House of Lords loves her. Especially the Lord Chancellor.
Fairies never age, so Iolanthe looks 17. Phyllis doesn't believe that she's Strephon's mother and leaves him to marry a politician.
Upset, the fairies send Strephon to Parliament and cast a spell to assure that all his legislation is passed—including a bill that requires that politicians be elected because of their intelligence.
